Our Director

Myron S. Ottley has been directing choral ensembles since the early 1970s, when he started a group called the Soulseekers.  The Soulseekers were ahead of their time musically, as under his directorship, they became well known for their outstanding performance of acapella, eight part-harmony, and contemporary gospel music.

He arranged songs for the group, and worked with other outstanding arrangers like Jim Wilson, Mac Claxton, and Adrian Westney, Jr.  The Soulseekers existed for 13 years, recorded three albums, and toured the US, Canada, and the Caribbean.

In the mid-eighties, Dr. Ottley joined the world-renowned Breath of Life Quartet, where, in addition to singing baritone, he continued creating arrangements.

In January 2001, after much pleading and encouragement from family and friends that he return to choral directing, he started a small group that would expand to become MetroSingers.
