Although well versed in the rendition of multiple genres of choral music, MetroSingers has developed a special niche for acappella performances of hymns and Negro spirituals. By so doing, MetroSingers is able to proudly participate in the preservation of the heritage of the spirituals. In addition, the group prefers to perform music that features close harmonic arrangements. MetroSingers' debut album - Anchored? - was released in the fall of 2003. Their second album - Limited Edition - was released in the summer of 2005. Both albums include spirituals, hymns, traditional gospel and inspirational renditions. The group finished recording their third album - Journey - in the summer of 2007. Journey features the spirituals and hymns that the group is known for performing, and also includes the choir’s unique interpretation of three contemporary gospel songs made popular by Fred Hammond, CeCe Winans, and Richard Smallwood, respectively. All three of the group's albums feature the music of well-known composers and arrangers, including Moses Hogan, Nathan Carter, Ralph Carmichael, Adrian Westney, Jr., Edmond Charles and John Stoddart. The choir has also released a DVD which features songs from Anchored? and Limited Edition, and interviews with choir members. Singles from all three albums may be purchased at the Christian Jukebox. We will be updating our site shortly so that the group's CDs and DVD may be purchased here. |
